Introducing Solon: The Lawgiver Behind the Workspace
Solon of Athens (c. 630 – c. 560 BC) was a lawmaker, merchant, and poet, revered as one of the Seven Sages of Greece. He laid the foundational principles of Athenian democracy by replacing the harsh, punitive statutes of Draco with a unified, balanced legal code. His reforms established a structured framework where justice and order applied to all.
When Verantu Labs set out to build an AI-native workspace for modern legal work, we chose the name Solon because it represents the codification of fair, structured, and accessible legal workflows. Solon runs locally on your machine, indexing your files and providing cited, grounded guidance - aiming to reduce daily administrative friction.
This introductory history is our first mock entry. Once we launch the product, our engineering and product teams will use this space to share the real story behind building Solon - our architectural choices, local context models, and document parsing pipelines.
